From the Director
Music has long been the lifeblood of the Mennonite Community. This is probably more in evidence at camps than anywhere else. We are a people of song. Songs tell stories, they express our faith, and they carry us in our dreaming. We live the words of the psalmist, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” This tape is an expression of our love and faith in God. If you hear something you like or if a song stirs feelings within you, understand that we are only implements of God, and we may not even be aware of how God is using us, or our voices.
The proceeds from this tape will go towards new programs at Silver Lake Mennonite Camp. Our last tape raised over $9,000, a portion of which was used to buy new canoes, the rest was donated to the Silver Lake Campership Fund. We hope that this tape will benefit the children in an equally significant way.
Thank-you to all of the staff for the rehearsals during your all too rare free time, for your patience throughout the recording session, but most of all for allowing God to use you at Silver Lake. You are a blessing and an inspiration. You’re the best!
A special thank-you to Jeff Cowell and Gord Berg for all of the work and time they have invested in this and other projects of mine. These guys never ask “What’s in it for me?” They model a giving attitude that is truly rare in this age.
Most of all, thank-you to my partner in life and best friend, Julie. You have enabled all of my dreams to come true, and you get so little of the credit, because of your quiet nature. this tape would never come to be, nor would much else in my life… without you.
